Roesiders back to league action

IT'S back to the bread and butter for Limavady United this weekend as they travel to Banbridge Town in the Ladbrokes.com Championship.

Banbridge are currently seventh in the league having won one and lost one of their opening two fixtures.

Last season Banbridge beat the Roesiders at the Showgrounds although United won in dramatic fashion at Crystal Park.

Peter Spratt grabbed the latest of late winners to get United all three points from a difficult game.

United's form this season has been more inconsistent than last year with several performances well below par.

The following Tuesday night (7th September) United travel across the mountain to take on Coleraine to take in the North West Senior Cup Semi-Final.

This is a mirror image of last season's final were United were robbed of the trophy by a poor decision.

Ironically the man who failed to give an obvious offside that night, David Walker, will be the referee for this game.

As the team continue to build on their latest victory manager Oran Kearney is looking for more consistency from his team.

"We have struggled with a bit of consistency this season and that has been a bit of a problem," he said.

"This season we have had a bad performance, a good performance, a bad performance and then a good performance.

"We need to find that consistency and play that we have had in the good games this season and we looked more like it last Friday night.

"Winning breeds confidence and that's what we will be looking to continue for the rest of the season.

"I'm sure this will be a tough game just like it was last season but if we play the way we can then we can get three points.

"We want to continue winning and that starts with this game. I'm not even worrying about the Coleraine game at the moment as we are taking it one game at a time.

"This is the way it worked best last season and we will be ensuring that it is the same this year," concluded Kearney.

United are still without several key players for this game. Michael Doherty is still several weeks away from a return.

Shane Jennings is going to be out until October with his shoulder injury and this game may be too soon for Trevor Hutchinson but he may be available for the Coleraine tie.

United's North West Cup semi-final next Tuesday (September 7) will be an 7.45pm kick off.
