This competition was the Bruce Carson Trophy for adult anglers and the Bruce Carson Cup for juveniles.

Conditions were quite testing for the anglers with a cold start to the day and due to recent heavy rain washing mud off the fields into the lough water clarity was not great.

However, conditions are the same for everyone and a few anglers caught and weighed in some decent trout.

The Bruce Carson trophy was won by Roger McClements with a fine trout, second was Noel Burns and third was Malachy McAleenan.

Full results of the weigh in:

1st Roger McClements 1.332kgs; 2nd Noel Burns 1.178kgs; 3rd Malachy McAleenan 0.980kgs.

Points are awarded towards the angler of the year competition with 1st gaining 3 points, 2nd 2 points and 3rd 1 point.

Noel Burns is compiling a tidy little points score with his consistent second places.

Sadly no juvenile weighed in a fish so the Carson Cup will not be awarded this year.

The club’s next competition is the Jim Ledlie Cup (fly fishing only) and Banbridge Angling Club Cup for juveniles. Saturday April 23 Corbet Lough 11am to 5pm.

The Under 13 Competitions start on Saturday April 16 at the Corbet Lough 2pm to 5pm. All legal methods are allowed in the under 13’s ie Worm fishing, fly fishing and spinning.
