Roisin appointed to top charity role

A BANBRIDGE woman has been appointed as Operations Director for a leading disability charity.

Roisin Foster has been appointed to the role for Leonard Cheshire Disability for its care and support services in Northern Ireland.

In her new position, Roisin will have management responsibility for overall strategy, operational planning and service delivery for the charity’s services in Northern Ireland.

A resident of Banbridge, Roisin brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked in social care management for 24 years. She started work with Leonard Cheshire Disability as Regional Director in 1997 after previously being an Area Manager with Mencap for seven years.

Roisin, who took up her new role yesterday (Monday) said, “Over the last ten years, working in conjunction with disabled people, we have expanded the provision of our supported living services in the community and will continue to develop this further.

“As well as disabled people themselves, we will work in partnership with a wide range of organisations to ensure a better quality of life for disabled people and campaign to change attitudes to disability.”

Leonard Cheshire Disability currently provides a wide range of services in Northern Ireland including supported living, care at home, a disability resource centre, respite care and rehabilitation for people with an acquired brain injury.

February 2010 will see the launch of a new community safety programme – ‘Be Safe-Stay Safe’ – funded by the Big Lottery.
