Ronnie takes the big fish at Islandderry

RONNIE McFadden, Lisburn, took first place in the fourth round of the winter league at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore recently.

Ronnie, who landed a lovely trout tipping the scales at 11lb6, was fishing his own cats whisker pattern to give him a four fish bag weight of 16lb12 which has took him into second place overall with a score of 50 points, only three points behind Gerry Teggart, Belfast, who is still the overall leader.

Second place in this round went to Lenny Magee, Lisburn, with four fish of 14lb12 with his best fish weighing in at 9lb6 while third place went to Gavin Rogan, Drumaness, with his four fish weighing in at 13lb. Gavin's best fish of the day weighed in at 5lb2.

The next round of the league is on Saturday 27 February. This Saturday 13 February is the first Junior competition of the year on the Hollow Springs lake. Juniors must be 16 or under.
