Rooney and McIlwaine take command of podium after cross-country success

Tandragee's Josh Rooney enjoyed a superb success across the third round of the Flahavan's Porridge Athletics NI Primary School Cross-Country League.

Jacob McIlwaine, Rooney’s fellow pupil at Tandragee, crossed the line in third behind Dylan Alexander within the Southern section.

The girls’ section featured athletes from schools in Armagh, Blackwatertown and Moira

Athletes are pushing to secure a spot on the final NI junior cross-country squad.

Over 5,000 pupils will compete across the cross-country programme.
