Rory plays at Lisburn

RORY McIlroy, one of the world's top ten golfers, made a surprise visit to the Lisburn course to play 18 holes with three of his friends last Wednesday.

A few days after playing in the US Open at Pebble Beach, Rory enjoyed playing in the sunshine at Blaris which was in top condition for Open Week. Later that day he drove to Rathmore Golf Club in Portrush to join in the celebrations for the success of Graeme McDowell, the first Irishman to win the coveted US Open trophy. At the weekend he then flew to Paris for the French Open.

A few spectators watched him play the second nine holes, but as the news of his presence spread the crowd grew to approximately one hundred as he reached the final green. After the round he very agreeably signed autographs and posed for photographs with those present. He received good wishes for the rest of the tournament season.
