Roy achieves a first for Lisburn whilst Pigeon Club ladies triumph in Cup

Local Darts star Roy Montgomery achieved a first for a player from the Lisburn league last weekend.

Roy, from Moira, who plays for Byrnes in the First Blues Lisburn and District Dart League is the current holder of the Lisburn League Individual title, which he has won five times and has been a beaten finalist twice.

Roy’s latest achievement came when he was playing in the West Belfast Open last Saturday. Roy hit a 9 dart finish; 180, 180, 60, 57 and double 12. This is the first time a player from the Lisburn league has achieved this feat.

In another major achievement, Roy will also be captain of the Northern Ireland World Cup 4 man team playing in Canada in October.

Elsewhere, Pigeon Club Ladies were flying high as they defeated Bluebell 6-3 in the Dunmurry Inn Cup final in the in Hertford Arms Ladies Dart League.

Hitting the target to secure the title for Pigeon Club were J. Warner, B. McKibbin, C. Bushe (103), A. English, A. English / C. Bushe and J. Warner / S. Parker.

Replying for Bluebell were A. Dunlop, A. Brady and A. Brady / A. Dunlop.

Results from the semi finals of the Dunmurry Inn Cup were as follows:

FIRST DUNMURRY 4 BLUEBELL 5

Bluebell booked their place in the final with a narrow 5-4 victory over First Dunmurry.

Winning for Bluebell were L. Kennedy, V. Welsh, P. Vance, A. Dunlop / S. Bailey and B. and L. Kennedy.

First Dunmurry winners were J. Brown, J. Watson, N. Graham and J.A. Jackson / N. Graham.
