Inishowen RFC, from County Donegal, were the visitors to The Cloughan for the first time in a competitive fixture.

There was nothing groundbreaking in a Junior 5 league game except thatcurrent Ballyclare president, Alistair Lindsay, and Inishowen president, Ann Scott, are brother and sister.

Alistair and Ann continue a proud family history in Ulster rugby as their father, the late Tommy Lindsay, was a stalwart of Ulster club rugby for many years, a two-times president of Ballyclare (1960-61) and (1980-81), who had the honour of being Ulster Branch President (1982-83).

Tommy was instrumental in the foundation of Inishowen RFC in 1972 and was awarded the prestigious ‘Mr Boots’ award in 1988 for his contribution to junior rugby in Ulster.

Family bragging rights stayed with Alistair, as Ballyclare IV won the encounter 29-7.
