RUGBY: Inst duo on Ulster duty

Coleraine Inst’s Peter Kidd and Conor Sheils travelled to Donnybrook, Dublin to represent Ulster Schools Under 18 in the sides first clash of the 2012 Inter Pro season against Leinster Schools.

Fortunately for them, the hosts were able to call upon the services of a number of last season’s very successful Ireland Schools’ team and their class and ability was apparent from kick off, comfortably defeating Ulster by 68 points to 5.

Leinster made excellent use of the quick ball they received which enabled them to cross the whitewash ten times. Ulster didn’t get much ball to attack but on 50 minutes, Conor Shiels made a great break and the visitor’s took play deep into home team territory. However, following a good passage of play the final pass went astray and the Ulster team got no reward for their enterprising approach.

The side will hope to get this disappointing result behind them and react positively in order to defeat Connacht in Galway on Wednesday, 12th September.
