The 24 year-old centre joined Kingstone Press League One side Oxford as his rise in the sport continues.

The Banbridge RFC player originally tried his hand at a different code last summer to keep his fitness up but was soon called upon by the Irish Wolfhounds and he’s now a professional player.

Clark said: “I’m excited to get the opportunity with Oxford. I’m keen to develop my game and add to my Irish caps. Oxford have helped a number of players gain honours in the Emerging Nations RL, so hopefully if I work hard I can progress my ambitions.”

The former Banbridge High School pupil was keen to point out that he is still keeping a close eye on Banbridge’s promotion push.

But his main concern now is Oxford’s season in the third tier of English rugby league.

The campaign got under way last Saturday with a 30-22 defeat to Newcastle Thunder but McAllister sat out with an ankle injury. He’s hoping he can make his debut on Friday away to London Skolars.
