Omagh II...0City of Derry II...38

CITY of Derry II progressed to the semi-finals of the Crawford Cup with an emphatic win at Omagh scoring six tries which could have been a lot more if the referee hadn't decided to blow the game up 20 minutes early.

The visitors got the score board ticking over when on ten minutes and totally against the run of play young scrumhalf Phil Duffy, who is having a fine season, picked up a knock on from the Omagh midfield to sprint clear and touch down under the posts.

Derry pressure paid dividends seven minutes later when from a scrum on the Omagh 22 number 8 Brian Prue broke from the scrum on the blindside to pass to Phil Duffy who drew the cover before putting brother Stephen in at the corner to complete the classic try scoring move.

Derry kept the pressure on and scored their third try on 24 minutes when from a lineout close in Derry moved the ball quickly right for the evergreen outhalf Ian Orr to put big winger Ruidi Moore in under the posts.

Derry added their fourth on the stroke of half time when from some powerful driving by the pack the ball was moved right for Stephen Duffy to add his second.

The Judges Road out-fit continued their dominance in the second half with Prue and Brady cleaning up in the line-out and it was from a line-out close in that Derry moved the ball swiftly left for Rudi Moore to add his second. The big winger got his hatrick on 60 minutes when Omagh tried to clear lines only for Moore to gather and run in unopposed.

With the home side down to 14 men the referee agreed with the captains to blow the game up early.
