Seconds retain Crawford Cup

CITY of Derry II's retained the Crawford Cup following an empathic victory over Ballynahinch II in the final, which took place at Ravenhill this afternoon (Tuesday).

Rudi Moore's two first half tries were enough for the Judges Road men to have an impressive 20-0 lead at the break and also ensured the Waterside man picked up the man of the match accolade.

To their credit Ballynahinch battled back in the second half and reduced the deficit to 20-7 when captain Owen Fletcher scored an early try, which was converted by Chris Kirk, but Richard Peoples increased Derry's lead to 23-7 with a 60 minute penalty.

Then right at the death Peoples capped a fine day by scoring a try himself to make the final score 28-7.
