Portadown College pupils marched into the Medallion Plate semi-finals with a convincing 17-0 defeat of Friends' School.

Sustained College pressure proved the perfect response to the previous fixture’s Medallion Shield exit.

Drew Flack registered the opening tie and a quick pick-and-pass play by Scott McDowell released the former before Chris Thornbury capped the move.

Sam Murphy steered over the conversion for a 12-0 half-time advantage.

Dylan Nelson intercepted a loose ball to increase the gap - with Peter McAdam, Peter Douglas, Alex Hammond and Jordan McAteer also key to victory.

Preparations for the semi-final will include a four-day team tour to Cardiff in Wales.

Portadown College must see off Grosvenor in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl quarter-final replay to set up a last-four trip to Omagh Academy.

Saturday’s meeting with Grosvenor finished in a 3-3 draw.
