THE mighty City of Derry Thirds were soundly beaten by Queens University in Belfast on Saturday.

The visitors had 11 forced changes from the team that had impressively beaten Ballymena the week before, and this was apparent on the pitch.

Derry were unable to get any phases of play going and their play lacked structure and direction. Basic errors and mistakes gifted the hosts possession time after time.

On the other hand Queens had an error free day and moved the ball around nicely and were rewarded for the fast attractive approach to the game with nine tries, six of them in the first half.

It was just one of those days for the visitors, where everything went against them.

The Thirds record away from home this season is far from impressive, whilst they have turned Judges Road into a fortress, they have lost three out of four away games.

They will be hoping to rectify the problem this week when they travel to Magherafelt to take on Rainey Old Boys.
