Rusty YCOB hit for four in Annalong

Banbridge YCOB went down 4-0 to fellow strugglers Annalong Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

The game was even for the opening 20 minutes. Bann even hit the bar from a corner early on but soon after that, they were punished for their miss. The home side broke quickly and fired to the back post where the unmarked attacker’s scuffed shot bobbled in off the post. A second soon followed as Annalong’s superior fitness started to tell to see the half end 2-0.

The Old Boys were under pressure for long periods in the second half but still created two clear-cut chances, the best from a good run and cross from Cathal Matthews. A Bann corner was then headed over when it seemed easier to score. Annalong punished Bann with two further goals to leave final score 4-0. Best for Bann was Mark Loughlin.

This first game for a month exposed rustiness and a drop in fitness levels for the Old Boys. The hard work will begin in training this week. YCOB thank Shoefair Sports for sponsoring a match ball.
