Saints come out on top in the battle of the ‘big two’

St Comgall’s came out on top in the Larne and District Snooker League’s ‘big two’ clash against Latharna.

Raymond Weir took the first frame in fine fashion with breaks of 34 and 46, while Dean McDonagh (33) and Anthony McCorry both won to put the Saints in the lead.

Gavin Carmichael pocketed the fourth for the Saints, before C O’Toole won the last in a scrappy hour-long frame. Latharna remain on top with 51 points from 17 games.

St Comgall’s sit in third on 48 points but do have a game in hand against Linfield.

Carrick side Greenbank ‘A’ are in second place on 50 points after a fantastic 5-0 win over Carrrick ‘A’. David Johnston, Davy Douglas, Pete McCaffrey, Robert Kinnon and Maurice Williams were all on target for the home side.

The Point have now moved level with St Comgall’s after a 5-0 thrashing of Ballylumford. G McNeill, Roy Logan, Eddie Carson, Graham Ferguson and S Girvan (50) won their frames. Linfield recorded their 12th win of the season when they beat Carrick B. Gary Rutherford, John Ferguson and W Stewart all registered wins, with Harry Wade and Glenn Gibney (40) responding for the hosts.

In the bottom half of the table, Ballyclare ‘B’ emerged as 3-2 winners at Greenbank B. Jim Taylor, P McIntyre and Adam McIntyre all won, with I Adrian and Roy Jonston claiming frames for the home side.

Declan McClean, Tommy Hart and Stevie Crymble fired Ballyclare Old Boys to victory overSt John’s. Andy Reid and Damian Todd won for the visitors.
