Saints remain five points clear at league summit

St Comgall’s remain five points clear at the top of the Larne and District Snooker League despite having a free week.

Latharna moved to second after a 3-2 home win over Ballylumford. Raymond Weir, George McGregor and Gavin Carmichael made sure of maximum points, while Davy Irwin and Jim Magill provided the Ballylumford response.

The Point sit one point behind after they lost 3-2 at Carrick Golf Club ‘A’. Graham Ferguson (22) and S. Girvan won for the visitors but frames from Stevie McLoughlin (23), K. Knocker and Ricky Bradley (25) saw the golfers through.

Greenbank ‘A’ defeated fourth-placed Ballyclare GC ‘A’ on a 3-2 scoreline thanks to Maurice Williams, Davy Douglas (28) and Wayne Harper. Trevor Miars and Stevie Higgins were in the swing for the golfers.

Q-Club ‘A’ have slipped to nine points off the pace after losing at home to Linfield. Michael Kane and Lee Topping’s frames weren’t enough as Raymond Forsythe, John Ferguson and William Stewart made sure of victory for the Ballyclare outfit.

Declan McClean was in fine form chalking up breaks of 59 and 24 in Ballyclare Old Boys’ 3-2 success against Greenbank ‘B’. Darren Vennard (24) and Jackie Hogg won the other two frames for the Old Biys, with Roy Johnston and William McNeeley responding for the Sunnylands side.

Damian Todd (21), A McKee and Alex Robertson helped St John’s to their sixth win of the season after they saw off Carrick GC ‘B’. Tommy Bond and Glenn Gibney took a frame each for Carrick.

The next meeting has been moved to Monday, February 2 at St John’s (7:30pm).
