Sam Walker Knockout League underway

Ballymoney and Coleraine District Snooker League sponsored by Coppergate International

THE Sam Walker Knockout League got underway last week which saw a couple of shocks take place.

It was Triangle Young Guns who started it off after a great win over Triangle A, one of the favourites to win the competition, but just held on for a four frames to two victory.

This now looks a certain place in the semi-finals as they now have a home draw against newcomers Dunloy Chiefs, who held Garvagh to a draw in their last league game, maybe just not as cut and dry as it looks on paper.

The other upset came when Garvagh travelled and beat the much fancied Triangle B by four frames to one, the man was the match was Marcus Dickson.

The Coleraine RBL Hawks also had a good win over BRBL Diamonds by four frames to one and could be one of the dark horses of the competitons.

Also in the quarter finals are Dunloy United who had an easy win over Uni A.

There is still one remaining match to be played with BRBL Allstars playing hostd to Triangle Destroyers.

Another tough encounter no doubt.

The match of the quarter finals looks the one you would want to see - Garvagh hosting Dunloy United.

The winners of the competitons could come out of this match, so the pundits say, but they have been known to be wrong before, it is a funny old game at times.
