Sarsfields fall short in final

Sarsfields scored three goals and the same number of points but missed out on Division Two glory to St Patrick’s Carrickcruppen.

The Saints’ tally of 4-10 wrapped up the under 16s’ Championship crown following a flowing game in Armagh.

Oisin Smyth posted Sarsfields’ first score, off a free-kick, then ended the half by grabbing a goal - with Kevin McAlinden registering the assist having earlier scored a point.

St Patrick’s entered the interval up by 2-6 to 1-2 and a second-half run of 1-3 left Sarsfields on the backfoot.

Smyth scored another point before McAlinden added to the team’s run of goals.

McAlinden doubled his personal tally of goals before the final whistle.

Mark Allison picked up an injury over the closing stages but has recovered.

A squad representing Sarsfields under 10s recently took part in a tournament hosted by Clann Eireann.

Coaching for the primary one, two, three and four age groups - boys and girls - will run on Wednesdays from 6-7 o’clock.

Parents are reminded that coaching for the primary one and two players takes place across September.

Sarsfields face Granemore at Tir na nOg on Saturday from 6 o’clock in the Senior Championship.
