From the start Ballymoney put pressure on the defence of Portadown to test their abilities and strategies.

Portadown fought back hard and the forward line of Karen Taggart, Laura-Jayne and Emma Creelman had to work together to secure the possession of the ball to money sticks.

Midfield player Cathryn Knipe made some great runs up the left side but unfortunately was unable to breach the Portadown defence.

This left Ballymoney 0-0 at halftime but with high hopes to score in the second half.

As BAllymoney went into the second half with their heads high they continued to keep the pressure on the Portadown ladies. However, Portadown had a strong defence which made it difficult for the young Money squad to break through.

Portadown received two penalty corners which produced incredible saves from Ballymoney’s own Meghann Dooey.

The defence of Ciara McGuigan, Lesley Davis and Diane Ramsey was one to be reckoned with keeping the Portadown side from crossing the 25 for most of the second half.

The Ballymoney defence stood firm for the remainder of the game and it finished 0-0

The team would like to thank Diane Kirgan for coaching at the sidelines and Ruth Sutherland for umpiring, as well as the much appreciated supporters at the side lines.
