This is the third year in a row that the supporters’ club have made a visit to New Grosvenor; all the visits have been on the same weekend in March and up until this year all had been good weather-wise. But this year the awful wintery weather saw the Whites match against Portadown postponed.

Thankfully though they were able to attend the 50th anniversary event to celebrate the Whites’ league title win back in the 1962-63 season, and they played an active role on the night.

Club spokesman Jan Tholin spoke at the event, and in a much appreciated gesture the supporters club presented each member of the 1962-63 team with a gift to mark the occasion. Lisburn City Council also acknowledged the supporters’ club and the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Margaret Tolerton presented them with a plaque.

The supporters club was also delighted to announce that they had launched their new website – which you can access here.

Four members made the journey and the club thanks them and the other members of the supporters’ clubfor their ongoing support for Lisburn Distillery which has again also included match sponsorship this season.

The club are delighted that they are involved with the club and value their friendship when we meet up.

They also extend our best wishes to some of the other members who had planned to travel but were unable to do due to unforseen cicumstances. And in particular we hope that Kaj makes a full recovery from illness in due course.

Christer, Jan, Uno and Roy are pictured below, and of course we couldn’t let them miss out on an opportunity to see the Gibson Cup on the same night as the great league winning side of 1962-63!
