Score Football Centre, is the brain child of Coleraine man Russell Kelly.

Score FC, at Hillmans Way, will house five caged 4G five-a-side pitches and one multi-use seven-a-side astroturf pitch, which will also cater for tennis, hockey and other team sports.

Kelly says that the indoor facility marries two of his passions - business and football.

As a professional footballer for over ten years, the Coleraine man began his career at Chelsea when he was just sixteen. At that time Glenn Hoddle was the manager. He then moved to play for Darlington, under the management of Jim Platt, before a move to Scotland saw him winning the First Division with Dundee.

Before his move to Irish League side Linfield, Kelly sampled professional football in Iceland, when he won the Icelandic First Division with Thor.

Already the Coleraine centre has created ten jobs, however, it is hoped that as demand for the facility increases, more employment will be created.

“This is something that I am really passionate about,” admitted Russell.

“I witnessed the facilities available in Scotland and England as a player, but here in Northern Ireland there is a real lack of investment in indoor facilities.

“Already we have had great feedback from both local teams and those who play football socially, so as the regular football season finishes, it will just be beginning at Score,” said Russell.

In addition to the pitches, the Score Football Centre will also boast a sports cafe, which will show live football matches large screen TV’s showing SKY and BT sports, a kids party room, changing facilities and a gym will also be home to Crossfit Causeway.

Russell went on: “We aim to have Score FC opened on May 30.

“The plan is to open it with a five-a-side tournament, and the overall winners will win an all expenses paid trip to the New Nou Camp to watch Barcelona next season,” he concluded.
