Fox scored eight points in his teams 0-12 to 1-01 win in a game which struggled to reach even the most moderate of heights.

Shane McConville’s sides victory came on a night when they were missing several regulars including Armagh player Phelim O’Neill, Mickey Shanks, Ryan Lawless, Ciaran Nash and Chris Lavery who had picked up a knock in a training session.

Eire Og had entered the game on the back of a battling performance against Clann Éireann the previous Sunday, but on the wide open spaces at Monbrief they struggled to implement their well organised defensive strategies, which saw a number of their players flagging in the final quarter.

A worrying development was the fact the Ogs didn’t score from play over the entire 60 minutes, Daniel Ryan was the player who hit both scores, one of which was a well despatched penalty struck during injury time at the end of the first half which put a veneer on the half time scoreline.

In the opening period Ogs’ Steven Burns who normally plays in a midfield role was placed at full back to police St. Paul’s Andrew Murnan, a tactic which was not without success, but during the second half with Murnan figuring around the middle the home side won a lot more possession and were good value for their comfortable 8 points win.

Niall McPartland in the absence of Phelim O’Neill showed leadership qualities and there was a lot to be admired about the performance of Conal Haughey who lined out at centre back.

Marty Hoey, following on from his solid outing against Clann Éireann, to put in a good performance against St. Paul’s who have lost just once in this seasons league campaign.

Daniel McDonald was a constant threat for the Teghnevan men against Eire Óg who would be keen to put last Friday nights performance behind them.
