Scorpion boxing duo beat USA fighters at Europa showpiece
Ballymoney’s Scorpion Boxing Club wrote another chapter in their 30 year history their boxers fought on an international bill at the Europa Hotel in Belfast against The USA.
Brian McAlister at 54kilo took on Hakeem Middleton from Washington DC and in an excellent match up Brian boxed with class and used his straight countering punches to great effect. Middleton dug deep but Brian wasn’t to be denied and outfoxed his opponent over the final stretch to claim an unanimous decision. The top of the bill saw Paul Donnelly 67kilo take on the much fancied switch hitter Adam Mitchell from Washington DC, but Donnelly won in a 6-4 Team Northern Ireland victory over Team USA.
