Seahawks get ready to rock!

PORTSTEWART FC's Mullaghacall ground will resemble a mini-Woodstock this Friday when the inaugural 'Portstock Rock Festival' takes place.

A number of local bands and singers will take the stage during the day including 'Happy Shrapnel', Paul Black and the superbly named 'Hallion Cabinet'.

Event organiser Robert Hamilton told Times Sport that he hopes this will be the start of an annual event for the club.

"We are always looking for new ideas at Portstewart and we feel this offers something very different," said Robert.

"It will be a family based day with a number of bands playing from 2pm until 10pm and there will also be a number of other activities available for children as well as stalls and face painters.

"Action Cancer is also our chosen charity so hopefully we will be able to give them great support through this event.

"We think there will be a real festival atmosphere and I know there is a lot of excitement in the town about it.

"We're hoping that this will be the first of many and hopefully it will get bigger and better each year."

Eight bands in total will play at the Mullaghacall venue from 2pm until 10pm on Friday.
