Seamus has two shots to spare on busy day on course

It was a dual competition day at Silverwood Golf Club on Saturday with members having a chance to qualify to play at St Andrews in Scotland in the UKPPC championship, plus the club competition also.

The winner in the club competition was Seamus Patton with 40 points, he had 20 points on each of his two nines with three bogeys on his front nine and six pars at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 9th holes.

The back nine saw one birdie at the 14th hole, four pars at the 10th, 11th, 12th and 18th holes, one double bogey at the 17th hole and three bogeys to win by two shots.

In second place was Colm Doyle with 38 points. He had 19 points on his front nine with five pars at the 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th and 9th holes, one double bogey at the 4th hole and three bogeys. His back nine included another 19 points with one birdie at the 18th hole, two pars at the 14th and 15th holes and six bogeys.

Third was Patrick McKeown with 38 points, he had 19 points on his front nine with two birdies at the 2nd and 7th holes, four pars at the 1st, 3rd, 8th and 9th holes, two bogeys at the 4th and 6th holes and one double bogey at the 5th hole. His back nine also added up to 19 points with one double bogey at the 15th hole, one bogey at the 14th hole and seven par’s at his remaining holes.

The gross prize was won by Patrick Jordan with 34 gross points, he was one over par on his front nine with one bogey at the 2nd hole and eight pars and again one over on his back nine with one birdie at the 18th hole, two single bogeys at the 12th and 17th holes along with six pars.

Fourth spot went to Derek Boyd again with 38 points, he had 20 points on his front nine with five pars at the 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th holes and four single bogeys. His back nine of 18 points were complied with four pars at the 13th, 15th, 16th and 18th holes, one double bogey at the 10th hole and four single bogeys.

Fifth place went to Darren McCabe once again with 38 points, he had an 20 points on his front nine with an excellent eagle on the 7th hole, two birdies at the 3rd and 4th holes, two pars at the 2nd and 6th holes, three bogeys and one double at the 9th hole. His back nine of 18 points included one birdie at the 14th, four pars and four bogeys.

The senior prize was won by Thomas Marley with 37 points.

The junior prize was won by Nathan Thompson with 40 points.

Section winners: 0-12 Desmond Skelton 37 pts; 13-18 Laurence O’Connor 37 pts; 19-28 Paul Marner 37 pts.
