Seapark members keep on running

Carrick-based Seapark Athletic Club had another busy weekend competing in various events across Northern Ireland with many members achieving personal bests.

At Saturday’s Carrickfergus parkrun Ian Clelland was first home for the club in a time of 20:48, followed by Alan Grant 25:12 (personal best), Andy Smyth 25:36, Chloe Anderson 28:49 (pb) and Evie Gardner 48:22.

In Belfast, at the Victoria parkrun, Seapark’s Bobbie Irvine ran 20:21, followed by his son, Gavin Irvine, in 25:09. Gillian Strudwick ran 26:12 at the Larne parkrun.

Sunday’s Divis 10km saw Clelland record a time of 48 minutes in his second race in two days, followed by Vivien Davidson (60 minutes), Marie Nicholson (64 minutes), and Suzanne Martin (78 minutes).

Karen Poag was the first Seapark runner across the line at the 26 Extreme Women’s Mini Marathon in 50:14. She was followed by Karen Waring (52:57), Lynette Magill Owens (52:59), Alison Kelly Welsh (55:18) and Karen McMaster (1:04:56).

Bobbie Irvine ran 1:31:08 at the Cookstown Half-Marathon, followed by Gary Connolly (1:38:28), Mark Welsh (1:40:04, pb), Caroline Salters (1:43:37, pb), Gavin Irvine (1:50:23, pb) and Andy Smyth (2:01:29).

Seapark AC welcomes members of all abilities. The club meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 pm.

From August 5 the club will meet at Carrickfergus Amphitheatre. Seapark AC is a fully-affiliated athletics club and is registered and insured with the Northern Ireland Athletics Federation.
