Seapatrick extend winning run to six games

THE Village Reserves extended their winning run to six games and progressed through to the next round of the O’Hara Cup after seeing off Tandragee on Saturday.

The Village took the lead after 20 minutes, with Adam Kerr heading Mark Myles corner back across goal for Craig Campbell to latch onto to make the score 1-0.

This lead didn’t last long with Tandragee drawing level just ten minutes later. A well worked free-kick left the centre forward with an easy finish at the back post.

Seapatrick started the brighter in the second half, and took the lead again when Adam Kerr powerfully headed home a Mark Myles corner ten minutes after the restart.

Tandragee then missed a glorious chance to equalize when they failed to test the Andrews when one on one. Seapatrick then started to create a number of chances, with Stephen Campbell firing over and hitting the bar, before converting with a deflected effort.

Chris McAvoy came off the bench to seal the victory with two well taken goals, the first was a tidy finish into the bottom corner from a tight angle, and the second a well taken lob on his left foot after a defence splitting ball from Stephen Campbell.

In the closing stages the score could have been extended, with Damian Neeson going close with a header and Mark Myles hitting the bar.

This was another excellent victory for the in form reserve side. However, apart from the last twenty minutes this was a tight game, with Tandragee giving a very good account of themselves, and showing why they are sitting top of their league. The Reserves are back in league action next week away to AFC Craigavon.
