There was a big turnout and the weather held up well for the players

Damian Campbell made the most of it to make it two Captain’s Day victories having won Neil Balmer’s prize in 1996. The twelve handicapper hit 41 points to finish two points clear of the rest. Damian had a modest 17 points from the opening nine but, whatever happened during the stop at the ninth, the back nine was way different. After a bogey five on ten Damian got his birdy three on eleven. After a bogey four on the short twelfth Damian got his eagle three on the par five thirteenth and followed that up with a birdy four on fourteen. But for a six at sixteen he would have been under par for the back nine as he finished with two par fours. As it was Damian covered it in level par for 24 points to push his score up to the winning 41.

Ryan McKay was runner up with 39 points from his mark of seventeen. He too had just 17 after nine, two blanks doing a bit of damage, but a recovery was mounted with a birdy three on the tenth for four points. even with a double bogey six at the last Ryan added 22 points to the card for his 39 return. Mark Scott matched that total but his back nine meant third place after countback. a birdy three on nine gave Mark 20 out and his birdy four at the long fourteenth helped the eight handicapper to 19 back.
