Second half doublesuccess

United made several changes to the side which won at Ballinamallard last week showing the strength and depth of their young squad.

The first half was largely disjointed, United’s forwards wasteful in front of goal and a lack of tempo and cohesion meant a scoreless first half.

A very stern team talk by United’s coaching staff at the break, would have the desired effect as the Sky Blues took control early in the second period.

The opening goal came when the impressive James McCabe beat the full back and crossed for Eoin Kane to head in at the front post.

Eoin Kane got his second goal midway through the half when he played a “one-two” with Peter Duffin and smashed a drive into the top corner from 25 yds.

Despite it being one way traffic, United could not add to their two goal tally and the game ended in a 2-0 victory to the Sky Blues.
