Second straight loss for Staffers leaves title race wide open

The Ballymena, Harryville and District Darts League, sponsored by Mid Antrim Blinds, saw the second division title race blown wide open yet again with Spinning Mill defeating Social Staffers.

Drifters look to have sealed the 1st Division title yet again following The Diamonds failure to see of Clough Rangers. Results and fixtures this week are;

The best individual performances this week were 15-dart legs from Gabe Kerr and Ryan Gault, followed by: 16s Billy Gay, Davy Martin, 17s Rodney Cubitt, Darren McNeill, Stephen Gage, 18s Alan Service, Leonard McKeegan, 19s Billy Gay, Davy McFall, 20s Roy Gilchrist, Chris Greer, 21s Carlin McKendry, Davy Martin, Sammy Turnbull.

Alan Service (BT/PO) had the week’s best finish with a 130 checkout, followed by Ryan Gault (The Diamond) with a 124.

Gareth Lowry and Derek Connor (Diamond Bar) hit 180s.

DIVISION ONE

Michelin 2, BT/PO 6: Despite this defeat, Michelin keep themselves within touching distance of survival with 2 hard earned points from Chris Penny (2-1) and Bobby Carson (2-0). BT/PO gained the victory with wins from Ian Reynolds (2-1), Billy Gay (2-0), Alan Service (2-0), Tam Jameson (2-1), Glenn Gilmour (2-1) and Gary Gilmour (2-0). Star player – Alan Service.

Diamond Bar 1, Greenhills 7: Greenhills continue to keep their push for second place alive, although it is becoming a very long shot. Diamond Bar avoided the whitewash courtesy of Rodney Cubitt (2-0). Greenhills winners this week were Liam Quinn (2-0), Johnny Cree (2-0), Carlin McKendry (2-0), Darren McNeill (2-0), Leonard McKeegan (2-0), Stevie McIlroy (2-1) and Gabe Kerr (2-0). Star player – Carlin McKendry.

Clough Rangers 4, The Diamond 4: A result which has suits neither side, though a draw looks like a fair result. Clough may now struggle to secure 3rd place, their wins this week coming from Rab Lynn (2-1), Stephen Gage (2-1), Davy Gage (2-1) and Jimmy Finlay (2-0). The Diamond must now concentrate on finishing 2nd, 5 points guarantees this regardless of other results. Their winners this week were Ryan Gault (2-0), Colin Reid (2-0), John Robinson (2-1) and Davy Martin (2-1). Star player - Ryan Gault.

Ladysmith Arrows 2, FOuntain Bar 6: Well done Donna Service (2-1) and Claire Marshall (2-1) with the wins for Ladysmith Arrows. Fountain Bar came away with the win courtesy of victories for George Foster (2-1), Frank McDowell (2-0), Ian Cushenan (2-1), Jack Russell (2-0), Willie Russell (2-1) and Jonny Russell (2-0). Star player - Donna Service.

Spinning Mill 5, Social Staffers 3: Any one of four teams can now claim the title. Well done Spinning Mill, wins from Chris Greer (2-0), Ronnie Burns (2-0), John Greer (2-1), Dean Balmer (2-1) and Danny Balmer (2-0). Staffers fought back well from 3-0 down, but faltered in the final 2 games, their wins coming from Gerry Christie (2-1), Rodney Thompson (2-1) and Stevie Hamer (2-0). Star player - Danny Balmer.

Fountain Arrows 5, Buffs Club 3: Fountain Arrows may well rue missed chances for more points in this game having lost the final two games 2-1. Take nothing away from Buffs Club, well done Isobel Niklas (2-0), Willy Greer (2-1) and Thomas Purdy (2-1).The Arrows now sit 1 point off top spot thanks to wins from Robert Beggs (2-0), Daniel Thompson (2-0), Davy McFall (2-0), James Kennedy (2-0) and Sammy Turnbull (2-0). Star player - Davy McFall.
