Seconds battle back for superb draw

COLERAINE Seconds battled well to secure a 2-2 draw at Lisnagarvey Fourths, last year's league winners.

Coleraine had the odds stacked against them at the start with both an understrength squad and only having 10 players. Lisnagarvey dominated the first half, taking the lead after ten minutes when a misdirected hit out went straight to an attacker’s stick and keeper Rebecca Crowe was beaten at the second attempt.

The Coleraine defence of Catherine Kemps, Rachel Wilson, Emma McCotter and Emma McCauley coped well with the majority of attacks but the Lisnagarvey side showed their experience when a string of penalty corners resulted in their second goal.

The visitors came out fighting in the second half and within 30 seconds of the restart had pulled a goal back. Good play from Charlotte Lowden and Anna Breslin lead to a goalmouth scramble in which Anna cooly slotted the ball home. Coleraine confidence soared and the midfield of Jenna McMaster, Claire Adams and Molly Kane pressured the Lisnagarvey defence.

Anna Breslin had a superb run, showing some good skill, past three defenders and thumped the ball past the keeper to secure a superb draw for Coleraine.
