Seconds beat Pegasus

Lisnagarvey Ladies Seconds got their league campaign underway with a 3-0 victory over Pegasus Seconds at Comber Road on Saturday.

The girls dominated the entirety of the first half but found it difficult to convert the many chances they created due to an strong performance by the Pegasus goalkeeper. Eventually after 25 minutes Jasmine Kirkwood was able to slot home after a great passing move.

The game was played primarily in the Pegasus half and the only real threat they presented was an occasional breakaway which was dealt with ably by the Garvey defence and Suzanne Watson in goals.

Pegasus attempted to push forward but were denied any real goal scoring opportunities by a solid defensive performance.

Garvey continued to press forward and there was some exciting hockey played by the front six who continued to create opportunities in the opposition’s circle.

After 20 minutes Laura Wilson scored with a great lifted shot into the roof of the net, consolidating Garvey’s first half lead. The victory was cemented by another well worked move of intricate team passing allowing Wilson to slot away her second and secure a well deserved result after a strong team performance.
