Seconds bounce back in style

Coleraine Seconds put the disappointment of the Crawford Cup behind them on Saturday with a massive win over Clogher Valley Seconds.

Clogher gained the first points with a try early in the match and thereafter it was all one way traffic.

First on the score board was centre Alan Gourley, helped by great ball from birthday boy Gareth McCollum. Full back Brian Cochrane added another with a great solo run from his own half.

Winger Stevie Callaghan was next under the posts with a great run started off by hooker Mark Hunter. Gourley and Cochrane picked up another each before the break.

Outhalf Paul Roxborough kicked all the conversions, leaving the halftime score 35-7

In the second half it was Harry Tate’s time to shine. He picked up two tries, one a fantastic solo effort from the halfway line. Clogher also got in the act with another try.

Callaghan got two further tries to complete his hat trick. The best of those tries came when he linked up with the back row pairing of Andrew Neely and Ryan Gibson to create the score. Roxborough took responsibility for all the conversions.

The final score was Coleraine Seconds 63-14 Clogher Valley Seconds.

In the weekend’s only other game the score was Coleraine Thirds 21-25 Ballynahinch Fifths.

On Wednesday 10 April a Coleraine select side will play Junior Ulster at Rugby Avenue, kick off 8.00pm. This should be an interesting fixture with lots of exciting talent on display.

On Saturday 13 April the Firsts are away to CIYMS in their final league fixture and the Seconds are away to Ballynahinch Thirds.
