Seconds draw

BANBRIDGE Ladies Seconds stepped out on home turf to face an unknown Ballymena side.

Within minutes of the whistle Ballymena caught the Bann defence off guard and scored a scrappy goal.

Banbridge immediately lifted their game and continuously put pressure on the Ballymena defense, Sarah Anderson combined well with Rosemary Waddell to attack strongly down the right flank.

Nadine Blevins and Ashleigh Mitchell looked dangerous in front of goal and were unlucky not to find the back board. At the other end of the pitch Kate Cunningham controlled the defense with Joanna Palnoch making well placed tackles to keep Ballymena out of the Banbridge circle

A well practiced short corner, superbly slotted home by Rosemary Waddell to draw the home team level just before the half time whistle.

The second half saw the Bann girls controlling most of the game. Megan Whan and Jemma Lyle worked really hard to link and feed balls through to the forward line, while Jessica Hassan and Robyn Turkington matched their Ballymena attackers play for play cutting out any attempts to move the ball forward.

Jade Kennedy created great space in the middle of the pitch and fed timely balls to the forward line causing serious problems for the Ballymena defense.

Sara Rankin was unlucky on a couple of occasions with the Ballymena keeper pulling off some good saves to keep the score level.

Congratulations to player of the match Jemma Lyle and many thanks to Robin and to Julie Craig for umpiring the game.
