Seconds hit half-century of points at Banbridge

Within the opening minutes the Braidmen got their first of eight tries through a strong run by flanker Willie McKay. Rory Drysdale added the conversion, 0-7.

From the restart Ballymena moved the ball about well and a great pass from David O’Hara released centre Alan Smyth who showed a clean pair of heels to score under the posts. Rory Drysdale added the extras, 0-14.

After several phases from the rampaging forwards Ballymena released the backs who cut the defensive line to shreds leaving Alan Smyth to jog over for his second try. The reliable boot or Rory Drysdale added the conversion, 0-21.

Rory Drysdale kicked a penalty to make the score 0-24 and just before half time in form winger Rory Smith raced down the line to score in the corner. Rory Drysdale added the touch line conversion. Half time 0-31.

The second half started with with some good territory for the home side who were deep inside the Braidmen’s half looking for their first score.

Once the braid men got into the opposition half they looked dangerous and it wasn’t long before prop Jarrad Bowes was bundled over the line with held from his forwards. Rory Drysdale kicked the conversion, 0-38.

Ballymena forwards were dominating the line out and scrum and it was no surprise when another forward in the form of Shane McBurney charged through the centre to score under the posts. Rory Drysdale added the conversion, 0-45.

With time running out Ballymena racked up a half century on the score board when winger Rory Smith crossed the line for his second try. Rory Drysdale just missed the uprights.
