Seconds looking for revenge in a replay of last year's final

WARINGSTOWN Seconds will be hoping to go one step better than they did last season in the Junior Cup.

They lost in the final last year to Academy and the same team stand in their way in this season’s decider on Saturday at Wallace Park, Lisburn, 11am start.

“We are out to do ourselves justice,” said Waringstown captain Geoffrey Heyburn. “We will try and improve and learn from what happened last year.

“We have quite a strong batting line-up with the likes of Steven Allen and Ian Morrison at the top of the order along with the experience of stalwart Alan Waite.

“On the bowling front we are also strong with Charlie Crasborn opening with Matt Allen.

“They are backed up by Alan Harrison and Jason Stokes and the spin of Johnny Nation and myself.”

Academy play in section two of the senior league and relish getting a run in the cup.

“They just seem to do enough in their league but when it comes to the cup they are able to lift their game,” added Geoffrey. “Hopefully we can do that this season. We’ll give it our best shot.”
