Seconds see off the Mournemen

AFTER their great victory in Cork last Saturday Banbridge seconds returned to league action and travelled over the mountains to play Kilkeel.

Bann were at full strength with the return of Ryan Bell who missed the trip to Cork.

The locals started strongly and asserted control on the match with Woods and McAnulty probing the Kilkeel defence.

Scott McCandless and McCraken were dominating the early exchanges in midfield and when McCraken injected a ball into the circle McAnulty was on hand to fire the ball low past the Kilkeel keeper to give Bann the lead.

It wasn’t long until McAnulty doubled the lead this time dispatching a ball from Stergeon into the bottom corner of the goal. Bann continued to press forward and after winning their first corner Ross McCandless fired the ball high into the Kilkeel net.

Kilkeel got back into the game early in the second half with a straight strike from their first short corner.

Some strong defending from Bann kept Kilkeel at bay but towards the end of the second half Kilkeel won another short corner and again scored from a straight strike from the top of the circle.

Bann return to cup action next weekend when they take on Cookstown in the semi-final of the Irish Junior Cup on Sunday March 10 at Cookstown. All support welcome.
