Section B Promotion race heating up

There is no questioning that Section B of the Roy Kennedy League is far and away the most competitive.

A couple of seasons back the top team at the halfway mark ended up being relegated and that proves just how competitive this section is.

Sloan Street started well and are jostling for promotion. Eglantine have come on strongly of late and while slipping up occasionally, Aghagallon are still close.

But, go to the other end and, in no particular order, St Clare’s, St Colman’s Lambeg, Lambeg Parish, St Matthew’s, Broomhedge and Rock are all in the danger of relegation. St Joseph’s may just be outside this group and so are St Mark’s, but you never know here.

Ballinderry again dominate Section A and you can argue all kinds of reasons why it is easy for them to be there, but their ability and experience never seems to be mentioned.

Killaney have emerged as a likely second place team and St Paul’s are the surprise package, having moved up to third place.

Soldierstown are just about among the top few, but Hillsborough Social have slipped so far this season. Can they come back?

Priesthill looked like relegation favourites, but have come good in recent weeks and relegated Annahilt Parish are not out of danger. The other team to go down last season, Hilden, are not out of danger either. That leaves Derriaghy and Pond Park battling with these teams to stay up.

Section C has only seven teams this season and the promotion issue appears to be between Suffolk, Royal British Legion and Seymour Hill. St Columba’s have improved to date and are close to Lisburn Masonic and St Colman’s Dunmurry, which leaves Derryvolgie to finish bottom of the pile.
