The Taghnevan men, in beating Madden last Sunday, have now completed all their league fixtures but will now have to wait until at least the weekend to see if they have secured a promotional spot behind table toppers Shane O’Neill’s.

Should St Paul’s be guaranteed the runners-up place they will then be involved with Shanes in a play off with the winners being crowned division two champions.

Against Madden at the weekend, they were thankful for the accuracy of Michael Shanks who hit half of their 0-14 tally on the day. St Paul’s minor player Ryan Gilmore was the outstanding performer for his side on the day as the entire side battled hard in the two points win.

Whilst the new league system has come in for a lot of criticism over the past season, a special mention should be given to Maghery who defeated Crossmaglen on Sunday for the second time in league football this year.

The irony, however, is that the lough shore side could still have to win a title decider against Cross’ to be crowned champions, although the competition could also be from St Patrick’s or Intermediate Champions Killeavy who, as a club, are on high at present.
