Seven out of eight for Millpark

MILLPARK made it seven wins out of eight in the league with Saturday's victory over Cregagh at Banford Green.

After electing to bat, Cregagh made a steady start although their batsmen found the pace of Stephen Leckey difficult to handle. Leckey returned impressive figures of 1-8, bowling aggressively and getting good lift from the the Gilford end.

He and opening partner Darrell Martin (1-18) received great support from vastly improved Millpark fielding. In fact, so tight was the fielding that no singles were conceded until the end of the 10th over. The evergreen John McDowell and athletic David Wilton led this excellent effort.

It was a good performance with the ball from the home side, and wickets were shared between Stu Kidd (2-26), Davy Glover (3-20), Stu McCart (2-13) and Andrew Woods (1-16). Wickets fell steadily, and after the second Cregagh wicket fell with 44 runs on the board, they subsided to 111 all out.

The out come of the game was never really in doubt as Stevie McCart (47) and Davy Glover (19) gave Millpark a great start in reply. McCart dominated the bowling as he took the game away from Cregagh. The rest of the Millpark top order also contributed – Martin scoring 20 and Stu Kidd 16 not out.

Millpark cruised home by seven wickets with almost half their overs to spare. This was an efficient performance, and a good team effort.

Millpark now look forward to their top of the table clash with local rivals Donaghcloney. Millpark should be close to full strength for the fixture which takes place over two nights (6-7 July) at the Factory Ground.
