Sevenths were far from full strength

THE Sevenths travelled to Newry on Friday evening and were beaten 4-1 by a strong Newry Thirds team.

The home side began quickly scoring two goals in the opening 20 minutes giving the young Sevenths a difficult task.

However, Mark Murray did well to pull a goal back, slotting a rebound after a save by the Newry goalkeeper to leave the game poised at 2-1 to Newry at the interval.

The second half was significant in that Garvey 7th’s new member, goalkeeper, Gavin Adams produced a brilliant performance keeping the Newry forwards at bay almost single handed.

The young eighteen year old brought off save after save limiting Newry to just two goals in a one sided second period but he could not prevent the Sevenths eventually losing by four goals to one.

This was a good effort by a Sevenths team which was far from full strength against a Newry side which looked like winners from an early stage in this game.
