Seydak to make Reds move

INSTITUTE manager John Gregg admits he has lost one of the most underrated players in the country, as Eamonn Seydak has joined Premiership title contenders Cliftonville.

The left-back has been a regular under Gregg's management at Drumahoe and the Coleraine man believes Eddie Patterson has signed a 'proper pro'.

"I can safely say that Eamonn is one of the most underrated players in the country," he said.

"He's a type of player who I would have been building my young squad around, but whenever Cliftonville came in for him, I and the club couldn't stand in his way.

"Whenever Eddie (Patterson) fist contacted me about Eamonn I told him that he would be signing a 'proper pro', who has given his all for not just me but Institute."

Seydak, who has signed a one year deal with the Belfast men, said the chance to sign for a Premiership club was too good to turn down.

"The minute Cliftonville showed that they were interested in me then I always wanted to make the move," explained the left-back.

"Every player wants to play at the highest level possible, so to sign for a club like Cliftonville is great for me. At the end of the day they took the league to the last day of the season last year and have already done well in Europe this year.

"Over the last few seasons they have been up there challenging for the title and after having a good taste of European football already this season, I know everyone at the club will be looking to get back into Europe for next season.

"There was a few clubs who were interested in signing me, but the minute Cliftonville came in for me, there was only going to be one outcome."

The 24-year-old concedes the first result in the Championship he'll be looking out for next season, is his former club's.

"I'm leaving Institute with a heavy heart, because I have had four good seasons there; we have had some tough times, but we have also had some memorable seasons, like just missing out on a top six spot and reaching the Irish Cup semi-final," he added.

"I have a good relationship with everyone at the club from the supporters, to the players, committee members and Greggie.

"In fact I would like to thank Greggie for everything; he has never doubted me and brought my career on since he has become manager. I also know that he played his part in my move to Cliftonville, he told Eddie Patterson all the right things as far as I was concerned and he didn't stand in my way," concluded Seydak.
