Shane caps off a memorable year

WHAT a year it has been for Ballycastle lad Shane Jennings.

Shane signed on loan from Linfield to Limavady United last July after competing in the Milk Cup for County Antrim where he played against Manchester United.

In October he played a massive part with his school Cross and Passion College in securing the Bank of Ireland Mageean Cup in Casement Park, Belfast against St Mary's of Belfast.

He then played a series of matches for the Northern Ireland Schoolboys on Thursday and Friday nights in November, January, February, March and April.

In January preparations started with Cross and Passion for the All Ireland winning campaign, culminating in the semi final being played in March with the final in early April in Dublin against Dungarvin CBS from Waterford, an historic event for the school who made history being the only Ulster school to hold this title twice.

All this while playing for Limavady and scoring 14 goals in the Championship - a very physical and strong league.

This month Shane made his full debut for Ballycastle Senior Hurling side and helped the U-21's to the Antrim Championship scoring 1-1 in the process.

Shane has re-signed for Limavady United for the forthcoming season. And with pre-season beginning at the end of the month and university on the horizon it seems that things don't look like slowing down!

His manager at the club - Oran Kearney - was full of praise for the precocious lad.

Oran said: "Shane is a very talented young man with a super attitude towards his sport. He takes it all in his stride and never gets carried away with his successes."
