Shane’s the champion after close final

SHANE Lennon retained the Craigavon District Darts League Individuals title for the third time in four years after a 5-3 win over Clive Hanna.

With the two team mates kept apart on opposite sides of the draw many had predicted the final line up, but neither player got it easy on the way to the final and they produced top quality darts for the large crowd.

The first two legs of the final were shared with both players winning against the throw with Clive hitting a 180 in the second leg but then Shane pulled away winning the next 3 legs in 14, 15 and 20 darts to put himself just one leg away from the win.

Clive knew he had to up his game and he did so hitting a 17 dart leg which was followed by another 180 and an 18 dart leg to make it 4-3. In leg eight Shane started off with a 135 and a 140 to get himself down to a finish after 12 darts but the winning double can be the hardest to hit and so it proved as double seven quickly turned into double one which let Clive back into the leg, but he too missed his opportunity to level the match and when Shane hit double one with his third dart to claim the win and the title.
