Sheppard on target for Old Boys

Glebe entertained Coleraine Olympic at a wet Megaw Park on Saturday morning as they attempted to continue their recent good form.

Despite the inclement weather the pitch remained in excellent condition throughout and Glebe took advantage as they secured the three points with Andy Sheppard continuing his recent hot streak with five goals for the second game in succession. Glebe pressed form the kick-off, creating a number of chances before Sheppard scored from Campbell’s cross. Olympic defended stubbornly with Sweeney to the fore and McVicker pulling off a number of fine stops. However Sheppard was not to be denied and completed his quintet before half-time with a variety of finishes.

Just before half-time Eamon Loughrey capitalised on some slack defending to pull one back for Olympic. Davy Campbell got on the scoresheet in the second period to increase the deficit and Bellingham then took the opportunity to ring the changes introducing his full quota of five subs. Reilly was called on to prevent the visitors scoring a second before Gareth Grimes, making a welcome return, completed the day’s scoring with a neat finish.

Player-boss Bellingham was content with the performance on Saturday. He was also pleased for the first time in a number of weeks to be able to field 5 subs and hopes this will bode well for the weeks ahead.
