Shocks in President's Prize

THE preliminary round of the President's Prize has been completed and already there has been one or two surprise results. Nobody expected Seamus Rooney and Declan Barry to fall at the first hurdle, least of all themselves.

There are sure to be a lot more shocks before this competition reaches the final stages.

The results so far are as follows:

Neil Madeley and Kenny Whan beat Stuart Hunter and Brendan McConville 5 and 4.

Dougie Stevenson and Philip Strong beat Mark Cordner and M. Hinds 1 up.

Declan Dooher nd Paul Simpson beat Patsy McCourt and Dermot Dawson 2 and 1.

Colin Wilton and Cathal McNiff beat Cathal O’Neill and Brendan Meade 2 and 1.

Cathal McAnarney and Barry McCoy beat Colin Smylie and Graeme Woodcock
