'Show must go on' for Kings Moss Cycling Club

MEMBERS of Ballyclare-based Kings Moss Cycling Club had planned to hold a club run through the rolling countryside of Ards on Sunday (January 31), however, wintry weather conditions meant taking a route along the coast instead.

With Sunday morning club rides now being planned and hosted by a 'ride leader' from the club each week, Sunday's original 60-mile route was chosen by Club Chairman Tony Douglas.

And in another development, introduced due to the rising popularity of the cycling club and the welcome addition of new members, a 'B' route is being included on many Sunday morning runs for the benefit of beginners. This allows newer members to enjoy the majority of the main planned route with the help and support of an experienced Kings Moss cyclist.

The introduction of separate routes also allows the more experienced cyclists in the main group to begin to up their pace without causing difficulties for the beginners.

On Monday (February 1) members heard, at the club's monthly meeting, that plans for this year's major KMCC-hosted event- the May Fair Challenge - are making good progress, particularly as talks with the various outside organisations and authorities are going well.

The event will start from Ballyclare and is being held in aid of the Northern Ireland Children's Cancer Fund.

Those interested in joining Kings Moss are particularly welcome to come along to one of the Kings Moss Sunday morning rides, which leave the Square in Ballyclare at 10am and allow a chance for cyclists of a wide range of abilities to experience group cycling with the help and support of experienced teammembers.
