Sides aim for final place

TONIGHT (Wednesday) North West duo Lincoln Courts and Maghera Strollers face each other in the Coca/Cola Irish Junior Cup semi-final, at Mill Meadow, Castledawson (KO 7.30pm).

The Waterside men had two matches in the league last week; firstly they drew 1-1 with Draperstown Celtic on Tuesday night, thanks to David Downey’s equaliser, while on Thursday night they let a 3-0 lead slip at Greysteel. Courts’ goalscorers were Downey, David Laird and Gordon Murrey.

On Saturday they travelled to Ford in the quarter-final of the Irish Junior Cup, after the Dunmurrey men’s previous encounter with Courts was null and void.

A full strength Courts side knew they were going to be involved in a tough match and so it turned out to be; the only goal of the tie came on 78 minutes when Dean Cooke’s free-kick found Stephen Mooney and his centre found Jason Hay and he finished calmly.

While Ardmore face Donemana in the Second Division Promotion play-off, at Wilton Park this evening (KO 6.45pm).

Supporters of either club are reminded that no drink will be allowed into Wilton Park and admission is 2.

Meanwhile Intermediate side Churchill United face Tobermore United in the Craig Memorial Cup Final, next Thursday night, May 13, (KO 7.30pm).

The final, which was postponed on Boxing Day because of the inclement weather conditions, will once again be staged at Fortwilliam Park
