Next month’s Waterside Half Marathon, Sunday September 14th from the Gransha Park grounds, is pulling in the entries by the day but prospective runners should note that post Friday August 22nd the £20 entry fee will be dramatically upped.

Immediate entry therefore is recommended and this can be done online at www.derrycity.gov.uk/halfmarathon or directly at race Headquarters in Lisnagelvin Leisure Centre, 02871347695.

There is a 1600 individual entry/100 Relays limit for the popular Waterside Half Marathon, now in its 33rd year, and while entries will continue to be accepted after the 22nd-at the higher rate-these will cease once the entry limit is breached.

There is however one opportunity to enter at the current rate, on Tuesday August 26th in Gransha at the popular pre Waterside, Dessies Run 10K.

Simply come along to Dessies Run race HQ in the U3A Foyle premises from 5.45pm and sign up at the separate Waterside Half Marathon entry desk.

Dessies Run entries will of course also be taken on the night but to avail of the online £8/10 Euro entry fee, simply send - Name, Gender, Date of Birth, T-shirt size to [email protected] by 5pm on Monday August 25th.

On the night entries will be £9/11 Euro and all entry fee payments are on the night when the race packs are picked up at U3A Foyle.

The race has a 7.15pm start and race HQ is open for business from 5.45pm, entries close at 7pm to facilitate the 7.15pm start.
